As part of the campaign launched by the Forum for Development & Human Rights and the Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights & Development in July 2021 under the theme “Together to Combat Human Trafficking.”
(3) Seminars were held to raise awareness of the dangers of the crime of human trafficking and how to address it in three governorates so far (Alexandria, Al-Behira and Minya) in which 60 associations and institutions of civil society organizations participated
During the awareness sessions, the attendees discussed topics related to the role of state institutions in combating the crime of human trafficking and introducing the concept of that crime and the legal framework regulating it, as well as the international and regional agreements organized to combat these crimes, including the United Nations Convention against Unregulated Crime and the Protocol on preventing, suppressing and punishing trafficking in persons complementary to the Convention against Organized Crime and the Arab Convention against Transnational Organized Crime signed by Egypt.
The attendees also discussed the awareness sessions carried out on the crime of human trafficking in the Constitution and Egyptian law and the texts contained in them, which prohibit the commission of such crimes, the pillars of the crime and its punishment and the crimes related to and resulting, and the national strategy to combat human trafficking 2016-2021.
The awareness sessions are part of the one-year campaign launched by the Forum in cooperation with the Egyptian Coalition in July 2021, which aims to hold a number of training sessions to build the capacity of the Coalition’s (550) associations and NGOs.
It is worth mentioning that the campaign will continue in the coming period to complete awareness sessions in the 15 governorates where the Egyptian Coalition, and the FDHRD operate.
