Today, Thursday, November 11, 2021, the Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development (ECHRD) condemned the car explosion of Yemeni journalist Rasha Abdullah in Aden, who was on her way to the hospital to give birth with her husband, Mahmoud Al-Atmi, who was seriously injured.

For his part, Mahmoud al-Atmi accused the Houthi terrorist group of this incident because they were looking for his address, as he and his wife work for Arab and international press news agencies and monitor and document with their fellow journalists the Houthi violations against Yemenis.

The loyalists to the Houthi terrorist group are stalking Yemeni journalists, arresting them and placing them in prisons, where they inflict the most severe forms of torture, and sometimes they are sentenced to death in order to obscure the violations of the rights of the Yemeni people.

This stalking of Yemeni journalists is a clear violation of the rules of international humanitarian law and the four Geneva Conventions that are applied in international and non-international armed conflicts. It is necessary to consider the media as civilian objects that must be protected in accordance with the Hague Conventions for the Protection of Civilian and Cultural Property during Wars.

The ECHRD affirms its solidarity with Yemeni journalists, and shares the International Federation of Journalists and the Union of Arab Journalists the importance of freedom of expression and exposing the facts of terrorist groups all over the world.
