Today, Sunday, May 29, 2022, the Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development (ECHRD) condemned the terrorist attack that took place in the village of Bio Manyama near Mamovi (in Beni, North Kivu), eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, yesterday, Saturday. The attack was carried out by the “Allied Democratic Forces” rebels loyal to the terrorist organization ISIS. As a result, 21 civilians were killed in a horrific way. The Congolese army forces managed to kill 7 terrorists after arriving at the scene of acciedent.

It is worth noting that the Congolese and Ugandan armies have joint military operations against the “Allied Democratic Forces” since the end of November 2021. The provinces of North Kivu and Ituri have been under a state of siege for nearly a year in an exceptional measure that replaces the civil administration with the army and police.

ECHRD holds the “Allied Democratic Forces”, which the terrorist organization ISIS considers as a branch in Central Africa, responsible for killing thousands of civilians in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and carrying out attacks in Uganda, too.

ECHRD condemns all terrorist attacks aimed at terrorizing civilians and directly affecting their right to life. The coalition also rejects all forms of violence and terrorism used by some extremist groups around the world in order to achieve supranational interests.
