ECHRD praises Swift response of NEC to Ruling of Supreme Administrative Court to Return of (3) Candidates for Run-off Elections of Deputies

The Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development welcomed the rapid response by the National Electoral Commission and the implementation of the first chamber of the Supreme Administrative Court’s ruling,  on Thursday, November 12, 2020 to cancel the decision issued by the National Electoral Commission to announce the exclusion of 3 candidates in the Dakhla district of Alexandria, the district of HoshIssa in Al-Behira and the district of the Center of Snors Fayoum

And ruled that they return to their constituencies in the elections of the House of Representatives 2020, because of material errors in the decisions to announce the result led to the rise of candidates for the run-off at the expense of other candidates who received morer votes in those constituencies.

In Alexandria, the court ruled in appeal No. 7194 for the year 67 supreme judicial, to include candidate Ahmed Al-Sharif, in the run-off round of the sixth district based in the Department of Dakhla in Alexandria instead of candidate Mona Hassan Saad Hassan, so that the contest will be between Mohammed Al-Samaloussi, Mustafa Juma Al-Talkhawi, Ahmed Al-Sharif and Ahmed Khalil Khairallah.

In Al-Behira the court ruled in appeal No. 7062 for the year 67 Supreme Court to include Ali al-Damini, in the run-off of the fifth district based in the center of Housh Issa in Al-Behira instead of candidate Mohamed Abdel Ghani Abdul Latif Saqr, Meaning that  the contest will be between Al-Damini and Alaa Hamdi Qureitam.

In Fayoum, the court overturned the decision of the National Electoral Commission in its announcement that candidate No. 2 Manjood al-Hawari would run in the council elections in the individual system of the third district, and included the name of the appellant Bassam Al-Sawaf, to run in the run-off instead, due to a material error in the assembly of votes.

It is worth mentioning that the Supreme Administrative Court, considered about 108 appeals, from all governorates of Egypt, on the result of the first phase of the elections to the House of Representatives.
