The Egyptian Alliance for Human Rights and Development today condemned the violence, intimidation, and obstruction of sovereign institutions by armed militias in Libya, and reported that a member of the terrorist militias in the area of Ganzour west of the capital “Tripoli” on Friday morning, May 21, 2021, called “Ayoub Sahab” of the militia “Knights of Janzor” opened fire indiscriminately and attacked a house in the area of Janzur threatened to kill everyone in it, in front of the sight and hearing of everyone; A young man was killed and his father was injured.

The Egyptian Alliance for Human Rights and Development strongly condemns this terrorist act and demands the need to arrest and retribution the killer and find a solution to the dilemma of terrorist militias targeting civilians, and the alliance asserts that the continued use of thousands of mercenaries, foreign fighters, and armed groups, their presence and activities continues to pose a major threat not only to the security of Libya but also to the region as a whole.

The Egyptian Alliance for Human Rights and Development praises the efforts of the European Union and the UN Security Council for its support for the Libyan government in calling for mercenaries to leave all Libyan territory.

The Egyptian Alliance for Human Rights and Development also calls for all necessary steps to prosecute those responsible for such criminal acts, counter-terrorism, and counter ongoing attacks that violate the principles of international humanitarian law and threaten regional security and stability.
