The Forum for Development and Human Rights Dialogue has condemned the authorities at Doha International Airport who have subjected a number of women to degrading tests at the airport in a measure that degrades women’s dignity and is contrary to international conventions on stopping violence against women.

In a statement on Monday, the foundation expressed its full solidarity with the female victims of the shameful incident, which indicates that there is systematic violence by Qatari authorities against women, especially foreigners attending Doha International Airport.

The foreign ministries of New Zealand, Australia and France have revealed that 81 women have been subjected to unauthorized examinations at Doha airport in recent days.

The New Zealand Foreign Office revealed that a number of female passengers had been subjected to degrading forced women’s examinations at Doha airport, saying the actions were “totally unacceptable.”

The Australian Foreign Office condemned the strip search of Australians while they were at Hamad Airport in Doha.

Qatari security removed female passengers from a Sydney-bound flight, intimidated them and forced them to undergo illegal “vaginal” tests.

The Forum called for an urgent international investigation into the incident, which is contrary to articles of the International Convention on the Elimination of Violence against Women adopted by the UN General Assembly under resolution 48/104 of December 20,1993

Any violent act that results in harm or suffering to women, whether physically, sexually or psychologically, including the threat of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether in public or private life, is criminalized.

The foundation called for psychological support for the victims to treat the effects of psychological trauma and degrading treatment at Doha airport.
