The Forum for Development and Human Rights Dialogue has called upon the UN Security Council’s Sanctions Committee to place al-Houthi group in Yemen on the lists of terrorist entities with sanctions against associated individuals, groups, institutions and terrorist entities, such as ISIL, pursuant to paragraph 68 of Security Council Resolution 2368 of 2017.

The Houthi terrorist attacks against civilians in Yemen or against Saudi Arabia’s territory threaten the right to life and claim hundreds of victims and have committed numerous crimes against the Yemeni people that are equally true to what ISIL committed in Iraq and Syria before its defeat, the forum said in a statement On Monday.

Al-Houthis launched a terrorist attack targeting an Aramco oil distribution station north of Jeddah, west of the kingdom, with a rocket, causing a fire in a fuel tank and causing material damage.

The Forum for Development and Human Rights Dialogue considered this terrorist and subversive act to be a clear indication of the attempt by the Houthi terrorist militias to undermine security and stability in the region, especially in the presence of regional forces that provide them with money and weapons.

The forum warned that the lax handling of the group has brought Yemen to danger as the humanitarian crisis worsens and the number of people displaced by Yemen’s nine-year civil war increases.

The forum stressed the seriousness of al-Houthi’s practices on the human rights situation in the region and that its terrorist crimes affect civilians inside and outside Yemen, which requires urgent action from the UN mechanisms to list terrorist groups and pursue their sources of funding and the wealth of their elements and cutoff the sources of their supply of money and weapons
