Shadi Khalaf Appeals His 3-Year Prison Sentence for Indecent Assault on 7 Girls

The defense of Shadi Khalaf submitted an appeal before the Court of Cassation against the ruling against him of 3 years in prison, after he was convicted of indecent assault on 7 girls and an attempt to rape them during an acting workshop.

The defense of the accused was based in the cassation memorandum he submitted on several reasons that acquit his client, including the violation of the right of defense, the lack of causation and corruption in the inference.

On February 22, 2022, the Cairo Criminal Court issued its ruling on the accused with a three-year hard prison sentence in Case No. 6238 of 2021 Heliopolis Felonies Restricted No. 2455 of 2021 East Cairo, as stated in the merits of the court’s ruling,
It was established in the conviction of the court that the accused, artist Shadi Khalaf, owner of a studio in Heliopolis to teach the profession of acting, had followed his demon and lost his quest in the worldly life, and took from his acting craft a way of prostitution and attracting his victims from the girls who aspire to reach professional acting and fame, so he took advantage of his isolation with the victims The 7 were under the pretext of giving them acting lessons with seductive scenes, and he harassed them and attempted to indecent them.

In the decision to refer the accused to the Criminal Court, the Public Prosecution stated that on a date prior to July 4, 2021 in the Heliopolis and Nuweiba Police Departments, in the governorates of Cairo and South Sinai, 7 of the victims were sexually assaulted.
