Today, Sunday, May 8, 2022, the Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development (ECHRD) condemned the terrorist attack that targeted a water crane belonging to the Egyptian armed forces in the west of Sinai, which resulted in the death of an officer and ten soldiers.
This incident is the first since the beginning of this year, and in the scarcity of similar actions in the past few years with the approach of eliminating the roots of terrorism in Sinai since the launch of the comprehensive operation in 2018.
It is worth noting that the water crane, which was subjected to the terrorist attack, yesterday, is part of the development plans targeted by the government in the Sinai governorates. This confirms that the armed organizations in the Sinai are still adopting terrorist thinking, far from the claims of the Sinai investigation of growth and prosperity, which was one of their justifications.
The ECHRD strongly condemns the terrorist attacks that impede sustainable development processes in the Sinai Peninsula, and cause fear and terror among the people of Sinai.
The ECHRD expresses its condolences to the families of the martyrs, and appreciates the efforts of the Egyptian Armed Forces and the Police in combating terrorism throughout the country.
