Today, Monday, March 14, 2022, the Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development (ECHRD) demands the UN and the international givers not to stop the financial and logistic support the displaced people in Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger. This is due not to worsen the humanitarian situation in these countries.

Since the beginning of 2022, civilians in these countries have been subjected to intense terrorist attacks by terrorist groups and insurgents, which have resulted in the displacement of hundreds of thousands of local residents. In Burkina Faso, for example, since last January, more than 160,000 people, including women and children, have been displaced, which represents the highest monthly displacement rate since the start of the security crisis in the country years ago.
In light of the Russian-Ukrainian war, the humanitarian situation in the Sahel countries is expected to be negatively affected. One of the donors indicated to reduce funding by 70% in favor of refugees from Russian operations in Ukraine. This puts the displaced in a major crisis as a result of high prices as well as the impact of climate change.

The ECHRD affirms its total rejection of all actions that betray humanitarian principles, and the importance of helping vulnerable peoples, especially in the African continent.
