The Forum for Development and Human Rights Dialogue calls the United Nations to bear their responsibility for obliging Al Houthi militias to apply Al Hodeidah Agreement according to Security Council Decision no. 2452 of 2019

The Forum for Development and Human Rights Dialogue calls the United Nations to work upon obliging Al Houthi militias to apply Al Hodeidah Agreement according to decision of Security Council no. 2452 of 2019 in addition to take stricter measures towards obstinacy of Al Houthi militias regarding the application of the agreement’s requirements and undermining the UN mission and restricting its freedom as the mission was unable to undertake its mandate.

The press statment by the Forum for Development and Human Rights Dialogue noted the continuous violations of Al Houthi militias in regard to cease fire in Al Hodeidah. During last July violations of Al Houthi militias resulted in 97 human losses among which 14 martyrs, 83 injured and 3 civilians. Moreover, in 27th August 2020 Al Houthi militias attacked many sectors of forces in Al Hodeidah and targeted the Red Sea mills. Also the press release expresses Yemeni government’s astonishment of the silence of the head of the United Nations mission in regard to these violations and disregarding their attack against the Red Sea mills besides Al Houthi continuous usage of Al Hodeidah as a platform to launch their attacks by using drones and remote-controlled booby trapped boats; the matter which prisoned UN mission by Al Houthi militias and lost the required efficiency.

The Forum for Development and Human Rights Dialogue calls the Secretary-General of the United Nations to directly intervene to transfer the headquarter of the mission in a neutral place in Al Hodeidah and secure its work in a way which guarantees the mission’s implementation of its mandate in accordance with the Security Council’s decision no. 2452.
