The Forum for Development and Human Rights Dialogue calls the United Nations to have
a strong situation to stop Turkey’s movements to divide Cyprus Island
The Forum for Development and Human Rights Dialogue calls the United Nations bodies to intervene to stop the frequent Turkish assault against Cyprus rights. This came after the frequent attempts of the Turkish regime to escalate tension in Cyprus by announcing the establishment of two states in Cyprus which contradicts with the decisions of UN regarding the situation in Cyprus which support the unity of the island and refuse its division. FDHRD also assures that the Turkish regime approach in this regard completely contradicts with UN decisions and kindles the status of instability and absence of security in the Eastern Mediterranean especially with the frequent attempts and harassments by Turkey towards Cyprus and Greece.
Moreover, Turkey is trying to kindle the island by Turkish Cypriots who only represent 18% of the population. Also the division of Cyprus and the establishment of Turkish state in the North becomes a goal for Turkish Cypriots and Turkey in 50s and Turkey has militarily attacked the island in 1975 and announced the state in north of Cyprus in 1983 where the minority of Turkish Cypriots live and who are not recognized by any country in the world except Turkey in a severe challenge to all UN decisions and norms.
The Forum for Development and Human Rights Dialogue calls the concerned UN bodies especially the Security Council pays attention to Cyprus protection against Turkish penetration through the island especially as Turkey supports the island’s division by its members in the Turkish part in the island, the matter which completely contradicts with UN decisions which warn against any division of the island.
