The Forum for Development and Human Rights Dialogue welcomes the release of 398 accused people by Cairo Criminal Court during March

 The legal unit of the Forum for Development and Human Rights Dialogue welcomes the judgments sentenced by Cairo Criminal Court in regard to releasing 398 accused people in addition to eliminating precautionary measures in 45 cases during March 2020. The most number of release judgments was witnessed during March 2020 whether by Cairo Criminal Court or by general prosecution.

The forum publishes the lists of the released people today which include well-known people who were accused in the case no. 1338 of 2019 regarding state security known as “20th September Incidents”.

Mostafa Maher (brother of the activist Ahmed Maher/ the member of 6th April Movement who was released on 27th November 2019 in the same case) was released along with other seven accused persons in addition to the labor activist Haitham Mohamedeen.

Moreover, on 19th March 2020 the Supreme Prosecution of State Security decided to eliminate the precautionary measures and release 15 accused persons in the case number no. 488 of 2019 among them are: 1-Dr. Shady EL Ghazali Harb. 2- Eng. Abd EL Aziz Al Housni (the vice head of Tayar Al Karama Party).

In addition, on 23rd March 2020 the Supreme Prosecution of State Security decided to eliminate the precautionary measures and release 8 accused persons in the case number no. 488 of 2019who are: the human rights lawyer Mahenour Al Masry, the lawyer Amr Emam, the labor leader and activist Kamal Khalil, Hassan Nafaa and Hazem Housni the professors of political sciencein Cairo University and the journalists Khalid Daood, Esraa Abd El Fattah, Solafa Magdi and her husband Hossam El Sayad and others.

Also a number of journalists in the case no. 441 of 2018 were released who are: 1- Hager Abd Allah Abd El Moneem Hassan. 2- Amna Essa Shehata Essa. 3- Assma El Sayed Abd El Halem Mohamed. 4- Sara Sabry Abd Allah Kandeel. 5- Magda Fawzy Soliman Hegazi. 6- Assma Tarek Ayoub Ghazy. 7- Sabreen Sayed Ali Salama. 8- Belal Hamid Mahmoud Ali. 9- Alaa Ibrahim Mahmoud Karam. 10- Mohamed Sayed Mohamed Mohamed Shaheen. 11- Mohamed Abd El Moneem Mohamed Hassan. 12- Maher Mahmoud Abd El Hamid Ibrahim.13- Mahmoud Salah Mohamed El Sayed.

The Supreme Prosecution of State Security also decided to release Hazim Yousef Ibrahim Soliman the social media activist who was accused in the case no. 734 of 2018 in addition to the release of Karim Hussain Abbas Mahmoud in the case no. 930 regarding supreme state security media known as Al Khalaa Al Amal (Hope Cell).

Finally, the Forum for Development and Human Rights Dialogue calls the Attorney General to review the legal conditions of the provisionally detained people in the cases which do not contain violent actions.
