Trial of Illegal Immigration Gang

The Forum for Development and Human Rights Dialogue follows the proceedings of the trial of a three-person gang to smuggle immigrants to a European country using forged documents in the case bearing the number 3750 of 2021 at Al-Nozha prosecution.

At its hearing on September 18, 2021, the Cairo Criminal Court postponed the trial for the October 18th hearing.

The public prosecutor’s office referred T.A., 50, a driver, and his brother M.A., 37, and another unknown person to trial on charges of organizing and managing the formation of a gang specialized in smuggling several people to a European country in exchange for money amounting to 450,000 pounds using forged documents they edited in order to smuggle their victims. The first defendant attracted immigration seekers, while the second and third defendants specialized in fabricating forged documents and travel tickets.

Among the victims were R.A., a 38-year-old housewife, and her children, M.A., Y.A., S.A., who were seized at Cairo Airport while completing their travel procedures, where their visas were found to be forged by the defendants, who convinced the victim of their ability to deport them and resolve their travel procedures to a European country for 450,000 pounds and handed them their passports and a sum of 135,000 pounds to pay the rest of the money later.
