On the International Day of Education, the Forum for Development and Human Rights Dialogue affirms that education is the path to self-development. It is the path to the future of societies. It unlocks opportunities and reduces inequalities. It is the cornerstone of enlightened and tolerant societies and the main driver of sustainable development.
The United Nations’ General Assembly declared the 24th of January every year an International Day of Education, in order to glorify the importance of education in the development and renaissance of different nations, and with the belief that countries will not succeed or progress without equality and breaking the barrier of poverty that prevails in some countries, causing people to fall behind, children and adults alike. The International Day of Education Day 2023 was announced in order to emphasize the importance of comprehensive quality education for all people without discrimination and enhance lifelong learning opportunities.
This year, the International Day of Education is celebrated for the fifth time in a row, January 24, 2023, under the slogan “To invest in people, prioritise education”. The Day also urges giving priority to quality, equitable, inclusive education for all individuals to accelerate progress, achieve the goals of sustainable development, and overcome the barrier of racism and inequality.
