On the International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism, the Egyptian Coalition points out that terrorism and extremism are a daily challenge and a great danger targeting international peace and security, threatening the stability of countries and the rights of citizens, and violating all international conventions and treaties on human rights because they are global phenomena that transcend borders, cultures, and religions. Therefore, fighting terrorism and extremism require concerted efforts from various parties. However, the war against terrorism is not only a military war, because terrorism is a complex and multifaceted phenomenon, and each face requires a special method. So, efforts to challenge extremism and terrorism must address every stage, from addressing the roots of radicalism, to combating recruitment, to active participation in society.
The Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development stresses the need to support victims and survivors of terrorism, and to reflect on the pain they have suffered because victims of terrorism face multiple and different challenges, including the fact that the perpetrators have destroyed and harmed unrelated people, who simply live their normal daily lives, with the aim of instilling fear and advancing specific ideologies. These victims are often subjected to indiscriminate violence, with no identity and no name. Few have the material, emotional, legal and financial resources to confront this violence and its complex effects. Therefore, we must commit ourselves to supporting survivors who have been inflicted on the wounds of heinous terrorist acts, by raising their voices, protecting their rights and seeking justice, and by mobilizing Member States to provide the legal, medical, psychological, social or financial support they need to heal their wounds and live in dignity.

It is worth mentioning that the International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly by its resolution 72/165 on 21 August as the International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism in order to honor and support victims and survivors of terrorism and to promote and protect their full enjoyment of their human rights and fundamental freedoms. That resolution built on the existing efforts of the General Assembly, the Commission on Human Rights and the Human Rights Council, all aimed at promoting and protecting the rights of victims of terrorism. In proclaiming this International Day, the General Assembly emphasizes that the promotion and protection of human rights and the rule of law at the domestic and international levels are essential when it comes to preventing and combating terrorism.
