The Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development participates, on Wednesday, 31 July 2024, in the celebration of Africa Women’s Day, stressing that such a day reflects the importance of enhancing the role of women in African society and their rights, as well as addressing all violations that they may be exposed to.
It is worth noting that the African continent celebrates Africa Women’s Day on 31 July of each year, in order to shed light on the situation of women, discuss efforts to improve these conditions, as well as discuss the most prominent challenges that may hinder these efforts.
In this regard, the Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development would like to emphasize the important role of African women in developing a strong African identity, as well as the fact that women contribute mainly to the inclusive growth and sustainable development of the African continent, in light of the African Union’s vision for an integrated, prosperous and peaceful continent.
The Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights reiterates its call on the Egyptian government to ratify the Maputo Protocol on the Rights of Women in Africa, considering that it is the basic infrastructure for protecting women’s rights in various fields, and its positive effects at the institutional level, especially supporting women’s rights in Egypt from the legislative, political and administrative levels. In addition, Egypt’s ratification of the Protocol strengthens its African affiliation.
