The Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development expresses its regret and strong condemnation of the bombing by Israeli occupation army aircraft of the Al-Ahly Arab Baptist Hospital in Al-Zaytoun neighborhood in Gaza City through an air strike launched by an Israeli aircraft, on the evening of Tuesday 10/17/2023, which led to the martyrdom of more than 500 martyrs of the innocent victims, and hundreds of wounded and injured Palestinian citizens in Gaza, and there are still hundreds under the rubble until now. Since the start of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on October 17th, at the hands of resistance elements, Israel has been trying to displace the Palestinians in the northern Gaza Strip from their homes, and intensify its aerial bombardment for days on the cities of the north and center to force the population to move towards the southern regions. In turn, the Baptist Hospital has received hundreds of displaced people. Those who fled their homes due to aerial bombardment by Israeli planes that forced them to deliberately displace them. The fact that it was a hospital and its coordinates were known did not prevent it from being subjected to a side Israeli bombardment late at night.
The Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development affirms that this deliberate bombing and this heinous crime committed by the Israeli occupation forces against defenseless civilians represents a war crime, genocide, a crime against humanity, and organized state terrorism that deserves accountability and punishment, and a blatant violation of international law and the provisions of international and humanitarian legitimacy. It also affirms its denunciation of the continuation of these terrorist practices and brutal attacks against civilians, Israel’s continuation of its policies of collective punishment, and this dangerous and unprecedented escalation of killing and displacement against the people of the Gaza Strip. The expansion of Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip to include civilian objects, including hospitals, schools, and population centers, is considered a dangerous development in the course of the confrontations, and portends dire consequences for the security and stability of the region.
It calls on the international community and all of humanity to intervene urgently to stop this unprecedented brutality in the Gaza Strip and put an end to the bloodshed, the continuation of which constitutes a disgrace to humanity. It calls for abandoning double standards and selectivity in applying international humanitarian law when it comes to Israeli criminal practices against the Palestinian people, and prosecuting the leaders of the occupying force and holding them accountable for their crimes against the Palestinian people. Because this dangerous development requires a serious and firm stance to provide protection for defenseless civilians and provide health care in the Palestinian Strip. It also demands that Israel immediately stop its policies of collective punishment against the people of the Gaza Strip because this war, which has entered a dangerous phase, will drag the region into a catastrophe with undesirable consequences.
