The Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development (ECHRD) denounces the Israeli occupation forces storming, at dawn on Wednesday 5/4/2023, the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque, attacking those stationed in the prayer hall, attempting to forcefully evict them, and arresting nearly 400 Palestinians. The occupation forces surrounded Al-Aqsa, cut off its electricity, used rubber bullets, and fired tear gas and stun grenades inside it, which led to a fire in part of the prayer hall, among other damages. This came in light of the settlement organizations’ calls to carry out massive incursions into Al-Aqsa on Wednesday, and to slaughter the Jewish Passover offerings inside Al-Aqsa Mosque. The Israeli warplanes also bombed a site west of Gaza City. It targeted, with at least one missile, a site west of the city, which caused material damage, but no injuries were reported.
The ECHRD expresses its condemnation of these incursions, blatant attacks, and these repeated barbaric and aggressive actions towards the Palestinian people, the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and religious sanctities, which violate all international laws and norms, flagrantly violate the rights of the Palestinian people and the sanctity of holy places, and provoke the indignation and anger of Muslims all over the world, provoking their feelings, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
The EHCRD also calls on the Israeli occupation forces to respect the sanctity of the holy month, abide by international treaties and covenants, and immediately stop these crimes and continuous attacks on the Palestinian people and religious sanctities, which lead to escalation of the situation and ignite conflict in the occupied Palestinian territories. The ECHRD stresses that these continuous provocations and crimes against the Palestinian people will lead to a dangerous escalation and tension that will undermine the truce efforts in the region.
