……………………………………………….

Today, Tuesday, 3/10/2023, the Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development issued a report entitled The Vision of Political Parties for the 2024 Presidential Elections that reviews the parties’ view of the presidential elections and the ongoing movement within the parties in that important constitutional entitlement
The report pointed to the importance of political parties in enabling different groups to express their desires, needs, and beliefs in an organized and effective manner that captures the attention of public policymakers and includes them in the priorities of the political agenda. Moreover, the challenges facing parties in Egypt like the economic crises are the most prominent challenges within most political parties, especially the membership fee in most parties is the only source for the party to spend on its activities, as well as conflicts within Parties are also one of the crises that haunt these political entities, which affects party work
The report also clarified the role of parties in political life in Egypt after the revolution of 25 January 2011, and the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces took over the management of governance affairs in the transitional period through the mechanism of constitutional declarations, decrees, and decisions. In addition, the beginning of a comprehensive review of the constitutional and legal framework regulating political life in Egypt, in a way that addresses the distortions and imbalances that dominated it during the previous stage, achieves and meets the aspirations of Egyptians, is consistent with the goals of the revolution, consecrates democratic life, and establishes the rule of law and institutions.
As well as the role of political parties was very important on 30 June, when all parties of different ideologies met before the 30 June revolution to get rid of the rule of the Brotherhood. So, the revolution united all political forces and parties of different ideologies, and the Brotherhood period was one of the best periods in which all political forces of different orientations coalesced, and fused into one front, the National Salvation Front.
The report stressed that Egypt has an ancient partisan life that witnessed a great boom after the 30 June revolution, and the Egyptian parties had a new opportunity to engage more in the national dialogue to determine the priorities of national action during the current stage, and this in partnership with all youth currents. The parties are in a real test that requires joint coordination between the active and influential partisan forces on the ground. The reality of the Egyptian party map was completely different after the formation of parties that emerged from the womb of the June 30 revolution.
In light of the monitored position and the vision of the political parties for the presidential elections, the following was revealed:
• Some Egyptian parties announced their support for the candidacy of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and refrained from pushing a candidate.
• Parties also called for the election of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi for a new presidential term and the work of proxies for him through seminars and propaganda campaigns for him in the streets and squares. In addition, they urged President Al-Sisi to run for elections to complement the state’s development project and the vision of sustainable development 2030.
• Most parties stressed the need to ensure transparency and integrity for the upcoming elections, and fair and free judicial supervision of the elections.
• Most parties stressed the importance and necessity of participating in the upcoming presidential elections.
• The parties condemned preventing citizens from having powers of attorney and attacking them according to their version.
• A few parties rejected President Al-Sisi’s candidacy for a new term and announced their support for other candidates such as former MP Ahmed Tantawi and Farid Zahran.
