Ambassador Moushira Khattab, President of the National Council for Human Rights, welcomes the Forum for Development and Human Rights Dialogue (FDHRD)’s campaign to demand the ratification of the Maputo Declaration

In support of the efforts of the Forum for Development and Human Rights Dialogue, which had started in 2019 during the FDHRD’s participation in the work of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights in its 64th session, which was held in Sharm El-Sheikh in April 2019 headed by Her Excellency “Soyata Maïga”
And after the FDHRD has launched its expanded campaign to urge the Egyptian government to sign and ratify the Maputo Declaration,
The Ambassador, Moushira Khattab, President of the National Council for Human Rights, expressed her welcome and solidarity with the goals of the campaign. She stressed that the National Council for Human Rights would take the initiative to communicate with the concerned parties and make all efforts to ratify the Maputo Declaration by the Egyptian government.
It is noteworthy that the 2003 Maputo Declaration is derived from the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights 1981. It consists of 32 articles that are concerned with protecting women’s rights in various fields, such as the right to participate in the political process, social and political equality with men, and improving independence in reproductive health decisions. The protocol entered into force in November 2005.
