Court of Misdemeanors of First Settlement in New Cairo orders Renewal of Imprisonment of Mohammed Ashraf, Accused of Mocking Qur’an Radio for 15 Days Pending case No. 29 in 2020 Limiting Investigation of Cairo Appeal

The legal team of the Legal Aid Unit of the Forum for Development and Human Rights followed up the investigations conducted by the Cairo Appeals Prosecution with Citizen Mohammed Ashraf Mohammed Al Sayed Omar “A Stand-Up Comedian” on Thursday because of his video imitating the method of throwing and mocking the presenters of the programs by broadcasting the Holy Quran, the impact of the communication submitted by the National Media Authority.
The prosecution charged him with (contempt of The Islamic religion, threatening the values of Egyptian families, insulting and slandering the presenters of the Holy Quran radio station and publishing content that threatens security and social peace that would disparage the Qur’an Radio) and after the end of his investigation on 12/11/2020, he was sentenced  to 4 days in prison pending investigation with his offer on time to renew his imprisonment.
 At the
renewal hearing on Saturday, November 14, 2020, the accused attended, and a decision was issued to renew his 15-day detention, stating that the  presenter Dr. Hajar Saad Eddin accepted the apology of the accused.
  
The meeting’s legal team is following up on the progress of the investigation.
