The Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development (ECHRD) condemns the two bombings that took place yesterday, Tuesday, November 2, 2021, which were claimed by the Islamic State on Saradar Muhammad Daoud Khan Military Hospital in the center of Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. The explosion killed 19 people and wounded 50 others.
News agencies reported that gunfire was heard after the first explosion, which occurred at the first checkpoint at the entrance to the military hospital and the other near the vicinity of the hospital, which is one of the largest military hospitals in Afghanistan. Among the dead that occurred during the attack on the hospital was a prominent leader in the Taliban, Hamdullah Mukhlis, who is considered the largest leader the Taliban movement has lost since it took power in Afghanistan.
It is worth noting that the same hospital was subjected to an armed attack in March 2017, also claimed by the Islamic State and launched by armed men wearing medical clothes, which caused nearly a hundred deaths. The last attack occurred in the Afghan capital until October 3, when at least five people were killed in an explosion near the Eid Gah Mosque in Kabul, in an attack claimed by the Islamic State.
The ECHRD affirms its rejection of all forms of terrorism against innocent civilians and against health facilities that treat patients.
