Press Release

Today, Monday, the Forum of Development and Human Rights Dialogue (FDHRD) condemned the arrest of 19 Egyptian workers in the Libyan city of Sabratha. “Borkan El Ghadab” (Volcano Rage) operation room had claimed responsibility for the arrest and detention of the Egyptian workers. “The direct legal responsibility rests with the Libyan Al-Wefaq Government as “Borkan El Ghadab” operation that was announced on April 4, 2019, by the spokesman for the army forces of Al-Wefaq Government” said Said Abd El Hafez, FDHRD President. Therefore, what Al-Wefaq Government and its affiliated forces have committed is a grave violation of the rules of international law that impose protection and impunity on civilians and non-combatants during armed conflicts.

FDHRD demands Al-Wefaq Government to preserve the safety and security of the detained Egyptian workers and speeding up their return to their country.
