The Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development stresses that terrorism is a humanitarian affront and insult that threatens collective efforts aimed at promoting security and peace, protecting Human Rights, providing humanitarian assistance, and enhancing Sustainable Development.
It is worth noticing that the UN General Assembly announced, by its Resolution No. (77/243), that 12 February is “International Day for the Prevention of Violent Extremism as and When Conducive to Terrorism”, in order to raise awareness of the threats related to violent extremism as and when conducive to terrorism and strengthen the international cooperative in this regard.
In this context, the Egyptian Coalition praises the Egyptian efforts to combat terrorism at the national and international levels. Moreover, the Egyptian Coalition emphasizes the importance of the role of civil society and media in combating terrorism.
In addition, the Egyptian Coalition points out that terrorism and extremism are a daily challenge and a great danger to international peace and security, threatening the Stability of the States and the rights of citizens, and violating all international agreements and conventions on Human Rights. So, it is a Global Phenomenon that transcends borders, cultures, and religions, and its fighting requires concreted efforts.
