Today, Tuesday, February 8, 2022, the Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development condemned the unjust ruling issued by a Houthi militia court against a Yemeni child under the age of 18 on charges of assassinating 12 prominent Houthi figures.

The accused child was arrested on 7/24/2015, while he was 15 years old, and the forensic medicine stated on 7/11/2018, that he had completed 19 years of age, which confirms that he was arrested while he did not reach the legal age that the law prevents from investigating him as a juvenile and that he be investigated and tried by the Juvenile Prosecution and Court, not the Public Prosecution and the Specialized Criminal Court.

In recent years, the Houthi militia carried out death sentences against defendants without completing the litigation procedures and fabricated political charges against its opponents, to implement these sentences, to close the files of assassinations of many personalities, once and for all.

The ECHRD deplores the continuation of these violations without taking into account any rules or laws that protect civilians during armed conflicts.
