Today, Wednesday, February 16, 2022, the ECHRD welcomed the launch of the government in Niger and the humanitarian community, the Humanitarian Response Plan for the year 2022 in Niger, which aims to support vulnerable groups of the population.

The plan seeks to assist 2.3 million people at a cost of at least $553 million, including internally displaced people, returnees, refugees and vulnerable people living across the country. The plan gives priority to the areas of food security, nutrition, protection and education.

It is worth noting that last year’s humanitarian response plan was only 42% funded and Niger lacks the resources to address the humanitarian challenges posed by security instability in the Sahel states, where migration and refugee flows are closely intertwined with terrorist attacks.

The ECHRD stresses the importance of launching and implementing those plans that target the humanitarian situation and move forward in improving the conditions of vulnerable people.
