FDHRD The Forum for Development and Human Rights Dialogue condemned on Sunday, September 25, 2022, the terrorist attack on a military training center in the south of the capital Mogadishu, which was carried out by a suicide bomber affiliated to “Al-Shabaab.”
The attack, for which Al-Shabab claimed responsibility, took place outside General Dejan Badan Military Training School in south Mogadishu, killing more than 10 Somali army soldiers and injuring dozens.
This attack comes days after the Somali army announced the killing of 75 members of “Al-Shabab” and the arrest of others, near the Yasuman region in the central region of Hiraan. This is part of the continuous military operations by the army, which resulted in the retaking of the strategic village of Boko from “Al-Shabab” in the center of the country, after 13 years of control by the militants.
FDHRD reiterates its call for the international community to support the Somali government immediately to confront the terrorist groups in the country. It also calls on international relief organizations to quickly intervene to help the Somali people, in light of the worsening humanitarian crisis in the country as a result of the recent drought in Somalia.
