The Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development held its 5th meeting in Aswan governorate, on: “Human trafficking and ways to combat it”, in cooperation with “Maabad Foundation for Development in Aswan”, which was attended by (57) participants representing NGOs and associations in Aswan governorate.

As part of the activities of the Egyptian Coalition, which aims to work with nongovernmental associations and institutions in 9 governorates throughout the republic.
The meeting was attended by:
• Mr. Ahmed Maabad, a Development Expert and Chairman of Maabad Foundation for development in Aswan.
• Mr. Saeed Abdel Hafiz, General Coordinator of the Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development and a member of the National Council for Human Rights.
• Dr. Hamdia Bashir, a consultant and human development expert.
During the meeting:
• Mr. Maabad, spoke about cooperation with the Egyptian coalition and participating associations and the importance of networking in order to raise awareness of human rights issues and contribute to the modernization of citizens’ lives on Egypt Day.
• Mr. Abdel Hafiz, explained the initiative’s objectives, namely cooperation between NGOs to establish a network of associations in the targeted governorates to build the capacity of associations in various fields.
• Dr. Bashir, managed the interactive dialogue with participants on the phenomenon of human trafficking and ways to combat it. She focused on the importance of concerted efforts to combat the phenomenon of trafficking in human beings and ways to combat it globally, especially migrants and their exploitation.
• The attendees agreed to organize a number of meetings in centers and villages to raise awareness of the issue of human trafficking and ways of combating it and the role of NGOs in raising rural communities’ awareness of the seriousness of the phenomenon
