ECHRD Holds Fifth Training Session for Observers of Senate Elections in Aswan

The Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development held in cooperation with The Maabad Foundation for Development in Aswan its fifth training to Observe the 2020 Senate elections in the presence of representatives of 30 civil associations in Aswan province, and Professor Ahmed Maabad President of the Foundation opened the meeting, and stressed his pleasure over the continuation of cooperation between the foundation and the coalition over the course of  5 years Professor Samir Kamel, President of the Future Society on the importance of
the Senate in enriching legislative life during the coming period and Mr. Ali Al-Saman, Program Manager of the Maabad Foundation spoke about the law of the The Senate and the legal framework governing the
elections,

Basma Wahby, program coordinator at the FDHRD, said that the training to observe the Senate elections this time is different from the previous trainings of the coalition as it is the first election for the Senate as the second chamber of legislation after the abolition of the Shura Council nearly 10 years ago.Abdel Nasser Qandil, a human rights expert and electoral systems consultant, trained observers on the mechanisms for observing of the electoral process in the field, mechanisms for monitoring violations, and preparing reports on monitoring results.
