The Forum for Development and Human Rights Dialogue issues today on the 10th of August, a report entitled as “Tigray’s Humanitarian Crisis and International Response”. The report focuses on the contemporary armed conflict in Ethiopia’s Tigray region and identifies the response of the international community.  The escalation of the conflict and the limited added value by the international community in resolving the conflict has pushed the Forum for Development and Human Rights Dialogue to raise the issue and call for further support to the population of Tigray.

The report is divided into several sections. The first section gives a brief on the ongoing conflict in Tigray. The second section reveals the dire conditions and challenges faced by Tigray’s population, mainly, food insecurity, displacement and refuge, destruction of facilities, lack of humanitarian access, and violence. The third section identifies the response of humanitarian agencies, their efforts in delivering assistance and the constraints placed on their work, along with clarifying the positions and policies of neighboring countries (Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, and Sudan) on the conflict. The last section show the stances of both the United States and China on the conflict of Tigray, in particular, due to their active policy on the conflict.
