Today, Wednesday, June 1, 2022, the Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development (FDHRD) welcomed the abolition of the state of emergency in Sudan, after the Transitional Sovereignty Council in Sudan issued a decree lifting the state of emergency to prepare the atmosphere for a national dialogue to end the current political crisis.

In the same context, the Sudanese authorities released a number of political activists imprisoned for participating in the national dialogue launched by the tripartite mechanism of the United Nations, the African Union and the East African Intergovernmental Authority on Development on May 12.

ECHRD commended these positive trends by the ruling authority to create appropriate conditions for dialogue and rebuild confidence between the various parties, to correct the course of the transitional phase in Sudan and to hand over power peacefully through elections or national consensus.
