The Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development holds its first meetings on capacity building of NGOs in Qena governorate in cooperation with Horus Association for Youth and Development. The meeting was attended by representatives of 40 NGOs and institutions in Qena governorate.

This was done within the framework of the initiative of the Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development, which aims to work with nongovernmental associations and institutions in 9 Egyptian governorates.
The seminar was held at the headquarters of Horus Association in Qena governorate.
The meeting was opened by Mr. Ahmed Hegaza, Chairman of the Horus Association for Youth and Development in Qena. The topic of discussion was “Women’s Economic Empowerment”.
Mr. Ashraf Diab, coordinator of the ECHRD, explained the initiative’s objectives, which is represented in cooperation between NGOs to form a network of associations in the targeted governorates to build the capacities of associations in various fields.
The seminar was moderated by Mr. Hussein Kamel, UNICEF Project Coordinator. He spoke about ways of women’s economic empowerment, how to benefit from community protection programs provided by the Ministry of Social Solidarity, methods of assistance of civil society organizations to women breadwinners, and the role of the United Nations and the National Council for Women in the economic empowerment of women.
Training Consultant, Ms. Huda Al-Awari, also spoke about the lack of services for women in Qena and gave recommendations on how to provide them.
For his part, Mr. Ahmed Hegaza expressed his happiness for the Horus Association to host the activities of the ECHRD, and how he is looking forward to more cooperation between the Association and the Coalition to achieve the best for the Qena community.
