Zagazig Criminal Court renews detention of 16 accused of smuggling migrants

The Tenth Circuit of Zagazig Criminal Court in Sharkia Governorate decided, Thursday, February 17, 2022, to renew the detention of 16 defendants for 15 days pending investigations on charges of human trafficking for smuggling migrants illegally, in Case No. 2740 of 2021 Felonies of Mashtoul Al-Souq Police Station.

The investigations of the Mashtoul al-Suq Center had arrested the suspects in September 2021, after receiving investigations that the suspects exploited the need of the victims from the village of Dahmasheh in the Mashtoul al-Suq Center to travel to Europe in search of work, by smuggling them to the State of Libya and getting to Italy by fishing boats.
